One component I believe is lethargy brought on by a distancing of everyday adversity and clear connection to the provision of our primary needs. In short… we are spoiled. And we are too busy maintaining our comfort and affluence to properly manager our institutions which are supposed to be there to serve us, not take from us.

Then our institutions such as our taxation departments run wild with creating such complexity of our systems, that the systems become further taxing on our energies just to comply with the complex requirements of reporting and payment.

Yet we pursue our next luxurious cruise or trip to Mexico and apply far more resources and time to manifestations of our affluence than we would in being active in our involvement in our own governments and intsitutions which were originally designed to be run by the people for th people.

But have now seemingly been allowed to morph into self-perpetuation entities that appear to exist for the the primary purpose of continuance of the instituion itself and not for the service, wellbeing, and betterment of the people it was originally meant to serve.

I think the obesity epidemics in our respective countries are very telling representations of the states of our nations and cultures. We are unhealthily fat and continue to eat ourselves to death.

What empire throughout history has not become complacent? Be it a nation, a corporation, an affluent family, a religious organization or an institution? What empire that has reached maturity and maintained it for a prolonged period has not in some manner become corrupt? What empire has not allowed its founding motives and purposes to drift? Maybe it is out there, but I do not know it yet and I would dare say it is untypical.

I wonder if the further we get from subsistance lifestyles and economies that include a large representation of primary resources such as farming, mining, fishing, forestry…. I wonder if this distancing from primary resources creates a culture of non-reality. Where be lose focus of what it takes to fulfill our basic needs. Where we take our basic need fulfillment so much for granted that we drift from the realities of life such as balanced budgets and equitable treatment of our fellow man?

I am waxing more philosophical than what I even care for. So will wrap it up here.

I simply feel we have become detached from the fundamental realities of life through our affluence. And we allow corruption to continue because we are preoccupied by the perpetuation of our comfort.

I agree. I am actually currently reviewing my position with a distributor of one of the high profile multi-national firms that is a potential candidate for bailout funds.

Ahh what a tangled web “we” (humanity) weave!

If there is one thing that history has proven is that any empire can crumble. Why? I believe because man if fundamentally selfish and corruptible.

The Romans, the Ottomans, the Persians, the British, the USSR…. and many, many more. Who is to say that AIG and GM have not followed similar paths?

And if our federal government(s)… btw…. I am Canadian…. throw them a life line perhaps we are in danger of being pulled under.

I agree that if money is to be distributed, why not back to those who contributed it in the first place?

These are not good things that are happening…. and no better lable for them than “Bullshit”.
